The Sleeping Beauty will be at Andrew Jackson Hall in Nashville, TN - September 23 through September 24, 2017
Choreography after Marius Petipa
Adaption and additional choreography by Paul Vasterling
Live music performed by the Nashville Symphony
Music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Brimming with enchantment, romance and charm, Nashville Ballet’s season opener
ushers in the triumphant return of beloved fairytale The Sleeping Beauty.
Considered to be the most technically challenging piece of classical choreography
for the ballerina since its debut in 1890, The Sleeping Beauty appeals
to connoisseurs and novices alike. All ages will be swept away by the timeless tale
of how the villainous Carabosse and noble Lilac Fairy cast dueling spells over Princess
Aurora, which can only be broken by a dashing prince’s kiss.
“With its lavish sets, costumes and storybook romance, The Sleeping Beauty delivers all the precision and artistry you might expect of a classical ballet. But you may be surprised by the level of strength, stamina and athleticism currently on display in Nashville Ballet’s dreamy revival.” – Amy Stumpfl, The Tennessean (2012)
